The machine I use came with windows 8 which I thought was crap, got a free upgrade to 8.1 Pro which was a lot better (use classic chrome) and now I can get a free upgrade to windows 10...anyone use windows 10 on here? and is the upgrade worth it?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Windows 10.
I warned you last week. If your on 7 and it does what you want - LEAVE ALONE - do not be tempted by this so called freebie from Gates.

It will cost you more in the long run when you put your fist through your screen in frustration.

Re: Windows 10.
I'm having a fucking nightmare with this.

Decided to upgrade a laptop from 8 to 10.

First step is to patch to 8.1, that's fucking everything up. Updated windows, denies 8.1 upgrade on Admin rights.

Check solution, delete KB2871389, reinstall, same error.

I'm going to hunt down Bill Gates and shove the dead, fetid cock of Steve Jobs down his throat.

I work as a Microsoft engineer and am new myself to windows 10. I've had lots of issues that I have had to fix for customers already.. including no start menu, search bar not working and graphic card problems.
I have also noticed some sticks of ddr3 1600 ram are struggling and this can be easily solved by running at 1333 MHz.

Re: Windows 10.

This is typical media shitstorm, one outlet misreported that and instead of checking the facts for themselves all the others posted the same bullshit.

That only refers to the service agreement for the Windows Store and Xbox, so unless you run pirated windows stores aps and a dodgy xbox its nothing to worry about.

It's incredible really that mainstream sites are reporting this so wrong really.

Re: Windows 10.
I upgraded to windows10 over the weekend and not being particularly I must have cocked a few things up as the internet/wifi kept dropping out and then a notice came on screen saying that cortana (whatever that is) and the start setup wasn't working, a techno (mate) came round this morning and everything's going well now, something to do with a driver issue? I like it, it's a good system.

Just reverted back to 7.

The EULA states that any hooky software will be checked online and disabled...

If they can do that, what else have they put in it?

Re: Windows 10.
For all those saying "wait for the first service pack" - Windows 10 won't have service packs

Will have regular, at least monthly, security updates and, roughly, quarterly feature updates.

The cumulative update from earlier this week has fixed the problem I had running it on a Surface 3 Pro, so very happy with it now. Had no issues at all on the desktop I use, haven't found a program that doesn't work yet

Re: Windows 10.
I got a new PC and it recommended an immediate upgrade from Windows 8.1. Initially it crashed every 15 minutes and had no sound. Found an updated sound driver and this download seems to have sorted both of these bugs. A new one has now appeared in that I have an intermittant loss of network connection, I did contact Microsoft who ran a scan and fix on my machine, but it still happens only less often.

It is not so bad for browsing but is irritating if watching sport on SKy Go even a split second disconnect means I have to log in again! Sometimes it insists there are no internet connections when my tablet is still connected. Windows 8 is awful so i am persevering at the moment! Microsoft say I need to wait for more updates! It is a bit like being a guinea pig for their system!

Re: Windows 10.
Upgraded to 10 the other day. Seems ok, obviously better than 8. My farts are a better OS than 8.

8 was a headfuck of the highest order.

Whoever decided to release that must have been on the payroll of a major Microsoft rival.

Don't kniw why they have to keep updating all this OS shit all the time.

XP did the job just fine.
